Patrick Mahomes just got paid. He got paid as in getting $503 million for ten years more paid. That includes $141.428 million in guarantees over the span of 12 years and the deal goes through 2031. That's an insane amount of money for a young quarterback! However, here are a few reasons why that contract is worth every penny.

1. It Gives The Chiefs Their Guy: For too long, Kansas City has dabbled in no-man's land for quarterbacks with the likes of the New York Jets, Chicago Bears, and Cleveland Browns. They have been stuck with the likes of Elvis Grbac and Alex Smith with little to no results to show for it. Now, they have their guy and will hold onto him for years to come (possibly).
   
2. Mahomes Has Already Proven Himself: Already an NFL MVP and a Super Bowl MVP in his first two seasons, Mahomes is a dynamic talent. Having thrown for more than 5,000 yards in a season, you can't deny that the man is extremely talented. His team already has enough talent to win him another Super Bowl as well.
   
3. It's Actually Team-Friendly: Speaking of the Chiefs, Mahomes's contract is friendly towards the team. For example, Mahomes will make a base salary of $10 million in 2027, with bonuses adding up to $49.4 million. There is also an option at the later part of his contract, where the Chiefs can simply restructure or go their separate ways. Again, a man of Mahomes's talents deserves a contract like this.
