Which NFL Dynasty Was the Greatest?

In the NFL, dynasties tend to rule the roost. These same dynasties tend to stand in the way of teams trying to hoist their first Lombardi trophy and wreck the competition. It's usually one coach, a group of players, or in this case, a combination of both that creates an indomitable empire. Which dynasty is the greatest in NFL history?
  • 1970s: Pittsburgh Steelers: The AFC as a whole ruled the '70s. However, the Pittsburgh Steelers won four Super Bowls in a span of six seasons. From the Steel Curtain, which was one of the most dominant defensive lines with Joe Greene and Dwight White, to the Immaculate Reception, the 1970s was littered with Steelers lore. Pittsburgh mainly dominated in the later part of the '70s, but that decade will belong to Pittsburgh and its dominance.
  • 1980s: San Francisco 49ers: Joe Montana is arguably the best playoff quarterback in NFL history, leading the 49ers to four Super Bowl titles during his time as San Francisco's quarterback. The '80s will be remembered for the 1985 Chicago Bears and their stellar defense. But Roger Craig, Bill Walsh and his West Coast offense, and Jerry Rice also helped make San Francisco a tough team to crack back in the day.
  • 1990s: Dallas Cowboys: How 'bout dem Cowboys? The trio of Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith made Dallas an unbeatable force in the '90s. "America's Team", as dubbed by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, helped mark two decades of NFC dominance in the Super Bowl. The combined score for Dallas's three Super Bowl appearances in the '90s was 109-47. Yikes.
  • New Millennium: New England Patriots: The New England dynasty is remembered with two poster children: Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. The two have won five Super Bowls with New England, making nine Super Bowl appearances in the new millennium. The Patriots may have faced numerous controversies along the way. However, seeing that they're still chugging along is something to behold. Brady and company have a chance to win number six this Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams.
So which one is the greatest? It's awfully close between the four. However, the Patriots can establish themselves as the best dynasty in NFL history with a win against the Rams on Sunday. Having six Super Bowl titles in their respective careers will make Belichick and Brady the greatest player-coach duo of all time.
