Atlanta United was one of the best teams to ever grace an MLS field, dominating the competition en route to a 2-0 victory over the Portland Timbers in the MLS Cup. The team has the potential to continue dominating the league for years to come. Why is this the case?

1. Arthur Blank: The Atlanta United owner has created a winner, creating a devastating attack. A good owner should also be willing to make tough decisions, such as the decision to sell Miguel Almiron so they can bring Pity Martinez on board. Blank has shown himself to be a viable owner in a time where ownership decisions are scrutinized more than ever.
2. Josef Martinez: Martinez is the lifeblood of Atlanta's attack. The forward had 35 goals in 39 games this season, breaking the single-season goal record for MLS play. His play has earned him the MVP award for the season while sparking an interest in MLS around the world. Yes, there are rumors that he may take his talents overseas. However, Blank would be wise to try and keep the 25-year-old forward on board for the long haul.
   
3. The Competition: Many teams have tried to bring on star power for their teams with not as much fanfare as Atlanta United has had all season. D.C. United brought in Wayne Rooney, which worked for a bit. The Chicago Fire brought Bastian Schweinsteiger and didn't do much after. The entire Eastern Conference is Atlanta's for the taking for a while until somebody builds a formidable team up.
