Just before the season began, the Washington Football Team were the laughingstock of the NFL. A botched name change from the Redskins along with a sexual misconduct scandal that rocked the franchise and mediocre play had the rest of the football world laughing at Washington. But guess who's in sole possession of first place in the NFC East? That's right, that same Washington Football Team.
This was supposed to be a young team that was developing. However, there are some bright spots, namely some Buckeyes. First is Terry McLaurin, who has been the go-to receiver for the team. With 73 receptions and 1,001 receiving yards, McLaurin has made the passing game more fluent for Washington.
Another bright spot has been Chase Young, who has been a beast for Washington. The defensive end, who was also the No. 2 pick in last year's NFL Draft, already has 5.5 sacks to go with 30 tackles and three forced fumbles. Young has been a disruptive force and a leader for Washington's front seven.
Washington may have been a past laughingstock when Ron Rivera was hired as a head coach. However, it seems that Rivera has gotten this team turned around. This is especially true with the Washington Football Team winning four straight games. In a race to the bottom for the NFC East, it seems that Washington is rocketing from the basement.
My life! Food, sports, school. It's what it is!
