The NHL has had an exciting postseason so far. From exhilarating Game 7’s to unexpected teams making an uprising, the Stanley Cup playoffs have been fun to watch. This is why I want to see an Eastern Conference Final between the Carolina Hurricanes and... the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Luckily, we are halfway to that with Carolina heading towards a sweep of the New York Islanders. No disrespect to New York. After all, they weren't even supposed to be in the playoffs to begin with and Barry Trotz has done an excellent job with this team. But the Hurricanes have been awful for so long that it feels good to see them have all this success. Columbus is currently locked in a battle with Boston in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. John Tortorella-coached teams usually shoot the puck a lot and try to control the puck for most of the game. If the Blue Jackets can keep the Bruins on their heels with their attack, they should advance to the Eastern Conference Final. The reason why I want to see this happen is because I've seen enough Eastern Conference Finals with Sidney Crosby, the Bruins, or other traditional markets featured. This would be a fresh change of pace, especially since these two teams have been historically mediocre. Seeing two Metropolitan Division teams not named Pittsburgh or Washington go at it for the chance to represent the Eastern Conference in the Stanley Cup Final would be an awesome site. Here's hoping for the best!
