Takeaways From The Anthony Davis Trade

The Los Angeles Lakers finally got LeBron a fellow megastar and it was the one they’ve wanted for a while now. Out goes Lonzo Ball (whose dad, Lavar, is throwing out hexes left and right at the organization), Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks. In comes Anthony Davis. What are the takeaways from the blockbuster trade?
  • David Griffin Has Some Pieces To Build Around Zion: Assuming the Pelicans take Zion Williamson with the No. 1 pick, they will have a new centerpiece to build around. Aside from the aforementioned players, Griffin also got three first-round draft picks. One of those picks can be used to gain even more draft picks. It’s safe to say that New Orleans gained a lot and won this trade.
  • That Doesn’t Mean The Lakers Were Losers In This Trade: They kept Kyle Kuzma, who was a big part of the Lakers’ young core. Most of all, the person that’s satisfied the most at the end of the day is LeBron. LeBron doesn’t have to play hero ball with an unproven group and has a superstar accompanying him. There’s also rumors of the Lakers heavily pursuing Kemba Walker with the Davis trade going down.
  • The Lakers Still Have Work To Do: Getting a star like Walker or Jimmy Butler would be nice for the Lakers. However, depth was a big problem for the Lakers. Los Angeles bench players averaged 35.4 PPG this season, good for 22nd in the NBA. Finding reliable bench scorers who can eat some minutes up along with some defensive players will be key for the Lakers. As for Lonzo Ball...
  • LaVar Ball’s Back In The Spotlight: Damn it.
