The NHL season is well underway and we already have some major surprises. Which teams are shocking the hockey world?

• New York Islanders: Sitting in second place in the Metropolitan Division is... surprise! The New York Islanders. Who would've thought that this team would've been doing well for themselves after John Tavares left? The Islanders are yielding 2.84 goals a game, good for 23rd-highest in the NHL. The Islanders are averaging 3.26 goals a game as well, good for eighth in the NHL. But will this last in a division with stiff competition?
  
• Buffalo Sabres: The story with the Buffalo Sabres may be about Jack Eichel, but the catalyst for Buffalo's success has been Jeff Skinner. With 14 goals and a plus/minus of 13, Skinner has been a big part of why Buffalo is third in the Atlantic Division with 26 points. The Sabres are currently riding a five-game winning streak.
  
• Vancouver Canucks: Although they are on a five-game losing streak, Vancouver sits third in the Pacific Division with 22 points. The Pacific Division is weaker this season, but the Canucks have been able to take advantage of this early on.
