SouthamptOn’s To-Do List

Last season, Southampton was just... there. Not the worst, but not very good, either. What can the Saints do to escape the depths of anonymity?
  • Find A Replacement For Mario Lemina: The midfielder may be outgoing with either Manchester United or Arsenal for £18 million, which would be a hit on Southampton’s part. Things may not all that bad; Lemina did have five yellow cards last season. The Saints will need to find some juice in the middle of the field if Lemina goes.
  • Boost The Striking (done): Che Adams has been brought on board to help the striker part of the Saints. Adams has 22 Championship goals last season and has agreed to a five-year contract. Offensively, this may pay off for Southampton given the 22-year-old’s promising athleticism.
  • Try Not To Be Relegated: Plain and simple. Just continue to build young talent and work with what you have until you get closer to the top.
