Should These Teams Panic?

One week into the baseball season has already sent quite a few teams into a frenzy. Granted, it's only one week. Still, should the following teams be concerned for their playoff chances this early into the season or will things turn around for this group?
  • New York Yankees: New York has been bogged down by injuries to start the season. In fact, 11 Yankees are on the injured list at the moment. The result has been an underwhelming 3-4 start that included losing a series at home to the lowly Orioles. Still, the Yankees should recover and pick up speed once they start getting guys back: holding off on the panic button is a necessity for now.
  • Boston Red Sox: Chris Sale's velocity was down for the opener, but his pitching mechanics shouldn't be the only concern. Eduardo Rodriguez has also had command issues early on, administering a WHIP of 2.75 and an ERA of 12.38. Other starters that need to turn their fortunes around include David Price (ERA of 6.00) and Rick Porcello (WHIP of 3.14, seven walks, and three home runs). Starting the season on a West Coast trip isn't an easy task and Boston has yet to host their opener. However, things will be problematic if starting pitching is the Achilles heel of this team.
  • Chicago Cubs: Like the Red Sox, the Cubs have started their season on a prolonged road trip. However, Chicago's road trip is significantly tougher, having to face both Atlanta and Milwaukee to begin the season. If an aging rotation, Joe Maddon's decisions backfiring, and a lack of a closer define the Cubs' 2019 season, the 2016 honeymoon will be fully dissipated.
  • Colorado Rockies: The Rockies have faced a tough schedule to begin the season, facing off against the Dodgers and Rays. Their schedule only gets more difficult up until May 3rd, with the Rockies facing teams such as Atlanta, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia. Colorado had better hope to hang around .500 or better until then to turn their season around.
