Giannis Antetokounmpo is set to become a free agent next year and the Bucks still haven't signed him to a supermax contract. Rumor has it that teams such as the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat are heavily invested in getting Greek Freak on board. Antetokounmpo on the Heat would make Miami the top dogs of the Eastern Conference once again, but putting Antetokounmpo on the Warriors would be downright scary. So, should the Bucks sign Greek Freak to his supermax deal?
Why wouldn't they? Greek Freak is easily a once-in-a-generation talent, dominating in the interior and creating mismatches wherever he goes. Milwaukee would have to be as lucky as the Indianapolis Colts were when they got Andrew Luck shortly after Peyton Manning left. Besides, you would have to be crazy to not offer this man a contract if other teams are salivating at the opportunity to sign him. Can you imagine Greek Freak with Draymond Green, Stephen Curry, and Klay Thompson on the same team? I know the Warriors may look like an oft-injured, aging team. However, they're in line to possibly get the no. 1 pick in the draft. Do you really want the Warriors or Heat to be dynastic threats again?
Milwaukee, you know what you have to do. You just got yourselves a new arena and a megastar to go with it. Don't lose him or you'll be stuck in NBA purgatory once again. Also, surround him with better role players and shooters.
