With a new head coach and a new offensive scheme that saw more touches for Aaron Jones, the Green Bay Packers made it back to the NFC Championship game. Looking to upgrade at positions such as wide receiver, the Packers are looking to take that next step. So... Did they do it?
Green Bay is normally an NFL team that is hesitant on signing big name free agents. Green Bay does most of its work in the NFL Draft. So, what did they do in the NFL Draft this year? They drafted Jordan Love with their first round pick. A quarterback out of Utah State and apparent successor to Aaron Rodgers, Love has a solid arm and should develop fine under the Green Bay coaching staff. However, the window of contention for Green Bay is closing. The best receiver Green Bay picked up was Devin Funchess, who isn't a bad option. It's just that Funchess isn't much of a no. 2 receiver. The Packers did nothing to draft a receiver, either, which doesn't help that window of contention. Green Bay did bulk up on the offensive line, which is nice. However, there are still other pressing needs such as edge rusher that need to be addressed. I give Green Bay's off-season a 5 out of 10.
