Penn State suffered the worst strokes of luck yesterday when they were upset at the hands of Indiana in overtime. Michael Penix Jr. ran in a controversial two-point conversion that sealed the 36-35 upset in double overtime for the Hoosiers. Now, the Nittany Lions have to take on the big boys of the Big Ten, i.e. the Ohio State Buckeyes. How worse can it get?
The Nittany Lions had some costly mistakes that did them in. Will Levis lost a fumble and Sean Clifford threw two interceptions, which amounted to three turnovers on Penn State's account. The Nittany Lions outplayed the Hoosiers, as evident by the total yards (488 to 211) and the first downs (27 to 16). However, it was the Nittany Lions shooting themselves in the foot that did them in. The road to the playoff doesn't get any easier for the Nittany Lions. Aside from next week's tilt against Ohio State, Penn State also has to face the University of Iowa on November 21 and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor a week later. James Franklin has recruited some quality talent at Penn State, where a good amount of that talent has gone on to play in the NFL. Unfortunately, this season may be over for Franklin's squad before it even begins.
