With today being the 20th anniversary of the Playstation 2's release, I'm going to do a Nostalgia Game Review on one of my favorite PS2 games: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. It's a game that was developed by Neversoft and published by Activision under the Activision 02 label. THPS3 was released on October 28, 2001 and was released for the Playstation 2 as well as the XBOX, Nintendo Gamecube, and Game Boy Color.
The premise of THPS3 is simple: you compete in various tournaments and stages to accumulate the most points. The stages range from Los Angeles to the suburbs to Tokyo and you can gain THPS3 tokens to boost your attributes. This game also has a mode where you can create your own stages and your own skateboarder. THPS3 also has songs from artists/bands such as CKY, Del the Funky Homosapien, Redman, and Method Man. Overall, THPS3 is an amazing game. You have your story mode where you can take a range of skateboarders from Tony Hawk to Bam Margera on a journey to the top. You also have an expansive create-a-skateboarder mode along with a create-a-park mode (although the create-a-park mode could be expanded more). You also have a soundtrack that slaps; I dig the songs on here since they not only fit THPS3, but they're catchy. You also have a wide array of tricks to use, especially for the create-a-skateboarder mode. I definitely love THPS3 and would recommend it for anyone looking for a different game to try. If you're looking to celebrate the Playstation 2 (or any of the systems of that generation), definitely give THPS3 a try!
