Not too long ago, I did a review on Mega Man 2, an iconic classic that saw Mega Man pursue Dr. Wily's and end Wily's devious schemes. This game picks up where its predecessor left off with a few notable changes.
First off is Proto Man. Proto Man is introduced in this generation of Mega Man games as the pseudo-antagonist of Mega Man who is actually Mega Man's brother. On certain stages, you will fight Proto Man, who's locked into a set pattern of shooting and jumping. At first, this pattern is tough to gauge. But once you've learned the pattern, the fight isn't that difficult. Another change is the introduction of the sliding mechanic. Being able to slide makes fighting against robot masters easier in that you can evade their attacks and strike back. This is also true with evading NPC attacks throughout the stage. The game is also very generous with E-Tanks, offering nine to hold throughout the game. The game has also introduced the "Surprise Tank", a randomized tank that offered a different boost to Mega Man. The game introduces "Rush Jet", "Rush Marine", and "Rush Coil", enhancements to help Mega Man navigate through stages. If you liked Mega Man 2, you'll like Mega Man 3. The gameplay is akin to its predecessor and is also fun to explore. Both Mega Man 2 and Mega Man 3 were some of the better Mega Man games to come around.
