NL East Preview

We move on from the American League and delve into the National League, where we begin our preview of the NL East. The division will be tough in a couple years, that's for sure. But who'll win the fight for second place?
  • Team to Beat: Washington Nationals: Armed with a studious staff led by Max Scherzer (2.51 ERA, 0.90 WHIP, 16-6, 12.02 K/9, 268 SO) and Stephen Strasburg (2.52 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, 15-4, 10.47 K/9, 204 SO), the Nationals will rule the roost in the NL East once again. They are also getting Adam Eaton back after he missed most of 2017 with an ACL injury, which will help Bryce Harper and the Nationals' lineup immensely.
  • Team That May Surprise Some People: New York Mets: The Mets were plagued by injuries last season and should be getting Noah Syndergaard back for the opener. They also overhauled their bullpen and added veteran bats in Todd Frazier and Jay Bruce. If the Mets can stay healthy, watch out for them in the NL East.
  • Team That's in Rebuilding Mode: Miami Marlins: Or it seems that way. Jeffrey Loria exited the fold in Miami and was replaced by Derek Jeter. However, it seems like more of the same in South Beach involving lackluster trades in an apparent fire sale. Not getting much for Marcell Ozuna, Christian Yelich, Dee Gordon, and Giancarlo Stanton has Marlins fans a little skeptical of the changing of the guard.
