NFC West Preview 2019

We finally wrap up our preview with a look at what could be the toughest division in football. Three teams in this division have playoff potential (with one of them being the reigning NFC champion) and one has an exciting new quarterback. How will the NFC West shake out?
  • Top Dog: Los Angeles Rams: Aaron Donald and his 20.5 sacks. Jared Goff and his 4,688 passing yards. Todd Gurley and his 1,251 rushing yards. Take your pick from this star-studded roster. The NFC champs are stacked once again, despite losing a few key players from last season's run. Sean McVay's crew looks to finish some business this season.
  • Potential Top Dog: Seattle Seahawks: Russell Wilson is still under center, which always gives Seattle a chance. The Seahawks also added edge rushing help in Ziggy Ansah and were the NFL's top rushing team last season (2,560 rushing yards). If Rashaad Penny and Chris Carson can give the Seahawks meaningful touches this season, the Seahawks should be back on top of the NFC West again.
  • Dark Horse: San Francisco 49ers: A lot will depend on the health of the team, namely Jimmy Garappolo. A lot will also depend on how much the young defense grows, considering that they had a hard time creating turnovers last season (only TWO interceptions for all of 2018). They stocked up on the backfield, which is nice. But if Garappolo turns out to be overhyped, there could be a major problem in the Bay Area.
  • Cellar Dweller: Arizona Cardinals: Kyler Murray is said to be of the Russell Wilson mold, which would be a big help for the Cardinals. The team is still rebuilding, so it may take a year or two to recharge. Arizona may also be victim to a tougher division this year: every team sans Arizona has either gotten better or is a playoff team from last season.
