Lions' Off-Season Checklist

The Lions are undergoing massive transformations to become a vision of what general manager Bob Quinn wants: A second coming of the New England Patriots. Here's what they need to do in order to make that happen.

• Find a New Head Coach (done): Matt Patricia came from the New England system, learning under Bill Belichick. He's already brought in assistants from Syracuse, establishing a system similar to the one put in place in New England.
  
• Find a Running Back (not done): Detroit hasn't had a solid running game since the days of Barry Sanders. In order to take the next step, they'll need to draft a running back and develop him.
  
• Give Darius Slay a Complementary Cornerback Opposite of Him (not done): Richard Sherman and Jeremy Lane were both released by the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. Sherman's not coming to Detroit, but the Lions can settle for Lane. Lane isn't a shutdown corner like Sherman is, but he can be efficient.
  
• Figure Out the Ziggy Ansah Ordeal (done): For now, Ansah is a Lion. Detroit used the franchise tag on him in order to work out a long-term deal with him. Ansah was the only player on the team that the Lions could use the tag on, anyways: Ansah was nearing the end of his current deal.
