Jaguars' Off-season Checklist

3/6/2018

The Jaguars gave the New England Patriots hell in the AFC Championship Game, only to fall short by a score of 24-20. Jacksonville is still in pursuit of their first Super Bowl appearance and just need to add a few pieces to get there. Here's their checklist for the offseason.
  • Get the Quarterback Situation Hashed Out (done): The Jaguars took themselves out of the Kirk Cousins running by signing Blake Bortles for three more years. The deal does seem warranted, for Bortles looked terrific in the second half of the season. However, it will remain to be seen if Bortles returns to his inaccurate form or if he sustains his improvement.
  • Obtain Skill Players (not done): Allen Robinson isn't expected to get the franchise tag and is likely out of Duval County. Jacksonville is also expected to lose Marqise Lee to free agency. Jacksonville will need to look at players like Mike Wallace and Jaron Brown to fill the void at wide receiver. Other wide receiver targets for Jacksonville include Sammy Watkins, Tavarres King, and Paul Richardson.
  • Build Depth (not done): Jacksonville is set on defense. They have great players in all facets from Calais Campbell on the defensive line to Myles Jack in the linebacker corps to Jalen Ramsey in the secondary. The Jaguars can make like the Seahawks of recent memory and build defensive depth to create a defense that's even scarier, putting in a "next man up" mentality for Doug Marrone.
