Early NBA Storylines for the Season

The NBA season is under full swing and there are plenty of storylines to go around. With plenty of headlines to go around from the offseason, the regular season offers more news to the mix. What are the big storylines heading into the season?
  • What's Up With the Lakers? An 0-3 start has Laker fans a bit concerned. No, LeBron is not the problem. He has 27.3 ppg to go with 8.3 apg. In fact, the team as a whole is scoring 125.3 ppg, good for second in the NBA. Defensively, they're dead-last in ppg allowed with 131.7. The bench is also a bit of a concern, with a good chunk of the scoring coming from the starters. Their best chance to score a win in the next four games comes at Phoenix tonight: their next three after that consist of a fast-starting Denver Nuggets squads and road games against Minnesota and San Antonio.
  • The Pistons Are Clicking: Speaking of fast-starting, the Detroit Pistons are off to a 3-0 start. After LeBron left for the Lakers, the Central Division is looking for a new ruler. The Pistons appear to up to the task, as proven by Blake Griffin's 50-point game against the 76ers yesterday. If Dwane Casey can get the most out of this team, look out for the Pistons to make some noise in the wide-open Eastern Conference.
  • Other Slow Starters: The Lakers aren't the only team that is off to a sluggish start. The Houston Rockets (1-2), Oklahoma City Thunder (0-3), Boston Celtics (2-2), and the Utah Jazz (1-2) are also off to a bit of a slow start. Granted, it's only three or four games. But if these teams don't clean up their acts soon, they could end up in a hole that they cannot escape from.
