College Football Winners and Losers, Week Seven

The essence of fall is upon us! The air is becoming crisp, the football is becoming intense, and playoff baseball is among us! Who is staging their comeback with a BANG like the Houston Astros? Who is choking their chances away like the Tampa Bay Rays?
  • Winner: Trevor Lawrence: The star quarterback for Clemson threw for five touchdowns in the first half against Georgia Tech in #1 Clemson's 73-7 blowout victory. Lawrence also threw for 404 yards and went 24-for-32 passing. Lawrence fell just short of the ACC interception record, but his monster day showed why he is in the running to be the No. 1 pick.
  • Winner: Shootouts in the Group of Five: Memphis knocked off Central Florida, 50-49, with a couple of late touchdowns. Both quarterbacks, Dillon Gabriel (601 passing yards, five touchdowns) and Brady White (486 passing yards, six touchdowns), had monstrous games as well. Meanwhile, Arkansas State upended Georgia State, 59-52, with Arkansas State quarterbacks combining for 40-for-57 completions, 551 passing yards, and eight touchdowns. There are other games like South Florida-Temple and North Texas-Middle Tennessee State that were high scoring affairs. But the Group of Five showed their offensive mettle on Saturday.
  • Loser(s): Tennessee's Quarterbacks: The Volunteers, on the other hand, lacked any offensive prowess. In Kentucky's 34-7 win, Tennessee's quarterbacks went 15-for-26, throwing for 112 yards and three interceptions. Gone are the days of Peyton Manning and in are the days of Jarrett Guarantaro getting benched. As a result, Kentucky defeated Tennessee for the first time in 36 years. That's definitely not "Rocky Top".
  • Loser: North Carolina: Letting Florida State score 24 points in the second quarter came back to burn the fifth-ranked Tar Heels. The result was a 31-28 upset, leaving North Carolina off the ranks of the unbeaten. North Carolina also couldn't stop the rush, allowing 241 rushing yards. It was nice seeing North Carolina ranked at number five, though...
Other Winners: Liberty, Dillon Gabriel, Arkansas's defense forcing seven turnovers
Other Losers: North Carolina, Louisiana-Monroe, Auburn
