College Football Winners and Losers, Week Nine

One conference didn't have a good day, while the rest took care of business. Who had nothing but blue skies and who had the pouring rain douse their parade?
  • Winner: Michigan: Over the course of his tenure, Jim Harbaugh has had constant criticism about how he wasn't able to beat top opponents, let alone rivals. However, Harbaugh's crew silenced those critics for one night. The Wolverines held Notre Dame to just 52 total yards halfway through the third quarter and gave Ian Book hell on a rainy night. The result was a 45-14 spanking of Notre Dame.
  • Winner: Big Ten: It wasn't just Michigan with a dominant night. Ohio State, Penn State, and Minnesota all rolled to easy victories, while #20 Iowa shut out Northwestern, 20-0. Even Rutgers (!) got in on the fun and beat Liberty, 44-34!
  • Winner: Kansas: Les Miles's squad has been pretty solid as of late. Going toe-to-toe with Texas last week and pulling a stunner on Texas Tech this week has the Jayhawks on the right track. Carter Stanley went 26 for 37, throwing for 416 yards and three touchdowns, while Stephon Robinson has six receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
  • Loser: Big 12: Kansas was perhaps the only bright spot for the Big 12. The conference big dog, the #5 Oklahoma Sooners, was upset by Kansas State by a score of 48-41. #15 Texas and #23 Iowa State also suffered upsets as well. But the Sooner loss will sting the most, especially with the likes of LSU, Penn State, and Oregon lurking for a playoff spot.
  • Loser: Wisconsin: The only big loser in the Big Ten this week, the defense suddenly softened. They gave up 38 points to Ohio State and Jonathan Taylor (20 carries, 52 yards) was nowhere to be found.
Other Winners: Navy's field goal with no time left, Memphis, Bryant Koback
Other Losers: Arizona State, Liberty, Notre Dame

  2. Alabama

There are winners and there are losers at the end of the game, but the thing that matter most is that there are lessons and there are values that are being applied during the game. There is still a celebration to do and we can all apply these lessons for the upcoming games. A lesson that will last a lifetime. I am decided to know more about football.
