Chargers' Off-Season Checklist

2/11/2020

A year removed from their playoff appearance, the Los Angeles Chargers faltered to a 5-11 record. How can the Chargers rebound with their debut in SoFi Stadium looming?
  • Replace Philip Rivers: A staple of the Chargers franchise, Rivers has finally bolted southern California. However, Rivers has started to deteriorate, with 20 interceptions and a QBR of 48.6. Signs are pointing to Justin Herbert as his heir apparent, but he might have to cut back on his own turnover issues to give the Chargers a different outlook at quarterback.
  • Replace Melvin Gordon: Gordon didn't get the contract he waned from last season, so he's set to leave. The Chargers should look at a running back in the later rounds, ideally Jonathan Taylor from Wisconsin. However, the running back position won't mean a thing if they don't fix this position as well...
  • Fix The Offensive Tackle Issue: Russell Okung has battled injuries during his stint with the Chargers. Lots of injuries, to be exact. There are other parts of the offensive line that need fixing, but tackle stands out for the Chargers. This is especially true if they want to get a formidable offense going.
