Yes, the expectations for Wrestlemania 36 were low. It wasn't taking place in Tampa like it was originally planned due to the coronavirus. That meant a two-night affair at the Performance Center in Orlando with no one in attendance. That also meant that there wouldn't be things like Alexa Bliss coming out to Bowling For Soup playing her entrance. However, the Biggest Show of Them All didn't disappoint. There were plenty of headlines to be had with Wrestlemania 36. First, there were two champions who won their first major titles. Braun Strowman won the WWE Universal title while Drew McIntyre (the Chosen One!) won the WWE Championship. McIntyre was the first Scottish-born WWE Champion in history, while Strowman was waiting for some time to "GET THESE HANDS" on a major title. Then, there's the little angles. Otis getting the girl after crushing Dolph Ziggler. I mean, look at this guy! Would you expect this unit to get someone like Mandy Rose? ![]() No, but it's still awesome! This country lives for the underdog story! The Rudy's and the Rocky Balboa's of the world are what makes American folklore great! Go get 'em, Heavy Machinery! There's also Edge getting his redemption at Wrestlemania against Randy Orton. If you don't know, Edge retired in the early 2010's due to neck problems. Fast forward around a decade later and Edge is facing old Rated-RKO partner Randy Orton. Orton has some beef with Edge, so he proceeds to slap Edge's wife. Edge beats Orton in a Last Man Standing match with tears in his eyes. Nothing more heartfelt than that. There's also the Fiend beating John Cena in a Firefly Funhouse match, a match that the Fiend needed. Now, he appears to be a threat after taking out both Seth Rollins and John Cena in less than a year. There's also Charlotte Flair winning another championship, notably the Women's NXT champion. Flair is gonna make her father proud if she wins 16 titles like her pops. WOOOOOOOOOOOO! Overall, Wrestlemania 36 wasn't bad. There was the usual Undertaker appearance to go with some good story lines. Hardcore wrestling fans were pleased to even see Roman Reigns not make an appearance (although Reigns had a legit reason). Maybe Wrestlemania 37 in Los Angeles will be a Hollywood spectacle?
