Anthony Davis has been at the forefront of NBA trade rumors since he declared that he wanted out of New Orleans. Teams such as the Lakers, Knicks, and Celtics have been linked to the Pelicans superstar. However, there is one team that can use Davis’s services.
Imagine the length the Sixers would have if they got Davis from New Orleans. Imagine the athleticism Philadelphia would have with Davis. Granted, the team’s chemistry is still a bit of an issue with Jimmy Butler. But the Sixers demolished the defending champions on the road recently. Now imagine the Sixers matching up against these Warriors with Davis in the Finals. The Warriors are known for their small ball play, but could they beat Philadelphia on the boards, especially with Joel Embiid and Anthony Davis in the paint? Golden State isn’t always going to drain a three-ball, you know. The 76ers are not exactly great at power forward, sporting Wilson Chandler as their starter. Getting Davis would be a significant upgrade.
Speaking of Chandler, he could be one of the pieces Philadelphia gives up despite his quad injury. In an ideal situation, Markelle Fultz would be traded as well, given that New Orleans has no problem with waiting out Fultz’s own current injury. The Sixers could either offer their first round 2019 pick in the NBA Draft or the year after (maybe both) or give up Mike Muscala or a combination of Zhaire Smith, Amir Johnson, Furkan Korkmaz, and/or T.J McConnell.
In any case, the Sixers should find some way to make this work. They have the assets to pull a trade off and would be close to unstoppable with Davis on the team.
