AFC South Preview 2019

Next up is the AFC South, where (almost) any team can win this division. Here’s a who’s who of the AFC South.

• Top Dog: Indianapolis Colts: Houston also has a strong case here. But I like Indianapolis a bit more. Their improved offensive line and a young, hungry defense led by rookie of the year Darius Leonard (163 tackles, seven sacks last season) should be enough to propel the Colts to an AFC South title. Keep an eye for Marlon Mack, too (908 rushing yards and nine touchdowns on 195 carries). Will he take that next step forward?
• Dark Horse: Houston Texans: The Texans have the defensive personnel, namely J.J. Watt, to win the AFC South. The bigger question is how efficient will Deshaun Watson be this season. If Watson manages to get out of his own way this year, Houston will be on their way to another AFC South title. 
• Enigma: Tennessee Titans: There are a ton of question marks with this team. Can Marcus Mariota stay healthy? Can this offense (25th in total yards with 4,998) actually take off? Can Tennessee’s young receivers step up to the plate? If all goes right for the Titans, we could see Tennessee on top of the AFC South this season.
• Cellar Dweller: Jacksonville Jaguars: A far cry from their 2017 run, the Jaguars have fallen quite a bit. From numerous injuries (I.e. Leonard Fournette) to lackluster quarterback play, everything fell apart for the Jags in 2018. Jacksonville hopes to remedy their quarterback problems by bringing in... Nick Foles. Foles isn’t the long-term answer, but rather the band-aid on a lingering problem plaguing Jacksonville for the longest time.
