Yes, I know it's only four matches and Aston Villa will have no business near the top by the end (Everton is leading the group, after all). But it's still worth noting how well the Villas are doing in this span, especially after Aston Villa blew out Liverpool, 7-2, last week!
The newly promoted club is stifling opposing attacks, allowing just two goals this season. Before the Liverpool match, Aston Villa hadn't allowed a goal this season. Matthew Cash and Tyrone Mings (two clean sheets each) have done a great job defending the pitch and the field. With a solid midfield group of Jack Grealish (three goals, three assists) and John McGinn (one goal, three assists), the Villas have been tough on the attack as well.
Again, it is early in the season. Therefore, all judgements should be held off until the halfway point, at least. Still, with Aston Villa's dominating 7-2 win over Liverpool, the Villas are sending a message to the league that they aren't to be taken lightly.
